BROOKLYN – Police say a 46-year-old father of two was fatally shot early Tuesday morning in Crown Heights
Police say the shooting occurred at the intersection of St. John’s Place and Schenectady Avenue around 2 a.m. in Crown Heights.
Family members say the man killed was 46-year-old Benedict Sam, a livery cab driver who lived in the area.
Witnesses tell News 12 they heard around five gunshots early this morning that woke them up
Police spent the morning investigating a van at the scene that appeared to have damage to it. They say Sam was transported to Kings County Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead.
The victim’s brother and niece say Sam was well known in the area and liked by so many.
