It is not surprising that crew members of ANNA, a superyacht owned by a Russian oligarch, fell in love with the turquoise waters of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
On Wednesday, the superyacht owned by Dmitry Rybolovlev was spotted near Fort Duvernette on the South Coast of St Vincent.
Built-in the 1790s, Fort Duvernette, also known as Rock Fort, towers over Calliaqua Bay and Indian Bay.
The superyacht Anna, which arrived at Port Kingstown on March 4, has been berthed in the Grenadines for 49 days. However, it has been in St Vincent waters for a total of 52 days.
On Wednesday, 9 March, ANNA was spotted in the Tobago Keys, located south of Canouan and north of Union Island.
Data from Marine Traffic indicates that the superyacht has been circling the Grenadines since March 6.
Despite being on the Putin Accountability Bill making its way through the US congress, Dmitry Rybolovlev has not been sanctioned over Russia’s war in Ukraine.
In 2011, the Russian oligarch became the majority owner of Monaco, the famous club from the glamorous principality.
Monaco was struggling in France’s second division when he took over, but he brought rapid success to the club through his investment.
Rybolovlev has lived in the Mediterranean principality for over a decade, but he owns two private jets and travels around the world for pleasure and business.
The last time he appeared in public was on February 23 in Antigua, where his boat, a lightweight superyacht called Skorpios, won the Royal Ocean Racing Club Caribbean 600 race.
Rybolovlev was on board, far from the football club he owns, and even farther from Russia.
According to his entourage, he hasn’t been to Russia “for several years”, certainly not since the Covid-19 pandemic started.
Rybolovlev left Russia in 2010 when he was forced to sell his majority stake in potash fertiliser producer Uralkali to close acquaintances of Vladimir Putin.
After leaving Russia, he made Monaco his base, but his ex-wife and children had already been living in Switzerland since the mid-1990s, and his parents also live in Europe.
Rigmora Holdings, the company which manages his business interests, was registered in Cyprus in August 2011 and has offices in Cyprus, Switzerland and Greece, but mainly in Monaco.
