In the near future, Georgetown, on the north-eastern coast of St. Vincent, will become a mini-financial district.
Speaking on the Issue at Hand Programme on Sunday, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said he intends to visit an area on Commercial Street with officials from the government, KCCU and GECCU.
“Credit unions are interested in building opposite the bank in Georgetown, the open area that the government owns. We want to physically visit because the government wants to build something there as well. If that were to happen, Georgetown would become a mini-financial district, with the bank on one side and the credit unions on the other.”
Gonsalves said GECCU is already in Georgetown and South Rivers but requires more space in the North-Eastern town.
Gonsalves said that future developments will expand services throughout the country. Georgetown is St Vincent’s second-largest city (and former capital).
