On Monday, lightning struck the waters off southern Puerto Rico and killed two people riding jet skis.
The lightning struck a 36-year-old man driving a jet ski, and then struck a 26-year-old woman riding a jet ski nearby. The driver of that watercraft was not injured.
According to police, the woman died shortly after being brought ashore, while the man died immediately.
As Tropical Storm Earl swirled northeast of the US territory, heavy rain fell on the island at times late Sunday afternoon.
