In 2022, Saint Lucians paid more than $34,000 to use the ambulance service. In 2023, Prime Minister Pierre announced he intends to reduce that amount to $0 for anyone who uses the ambulance service.
Medical emergencies should not create financial burdens. Eliminating ambulance fees will save Saint Lucians tens of thousands of dollars in unbudgeted medical expenses.
Soon, people in need of urgent medical attention need not worry about having to pay ambulance fees. Prime Minister Pierre’s Cabinet wants hospital patients to focus on healing and recovery instead of worrying about ambulance fees.
