St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is being represented in swimming at the XIX edition of the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.
SVG’s swim contingent comprises Nikolas Sylvester, Kennice Greene, along with coach- Kyle Dougan and Chief of Mission- Jacintha Ballantyne.
Sylvester and Greene competed in swimming on Saturday, October 21st. Sylvester is listed to compete in the 50m freestyle, the 100m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley, while Greene has the 50m and 100m freestyle and the 100m butterfly to contend with.
Apart from swimming, St Vincent and the Grenadines will also compete in athletics and sailing.
Darren Morgan will be this country’s lone track athlete, as he competes in the 100m events, with support from coach Chester Morgan. The athletic events are slated for October 30th to November 4th.
In sailing, SVG’s Scarlett Hadley will be competing in the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) 6 class events, carded for November 4th and 5th. Hadley is being coached by Jenny Trumble. According to Laserinternatinal.org, ILCA- 6 is a small single handed dinghy that is widely used in sailing competitions at the club, national and international levels.
The Pan American Games is the world’s third largest multi- sport event. The 2023 edition will see over 8000 athletes from the North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean competing for honours.
The Pan American Games run from October 20th to November 5th.
