THE NEW TODAY, a Grenada news publication, says that they obtained the court document that Marietta Mitchell filed, in which she told the high court that she wanted to end her marriage to former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, which had lasted nearly 50 years.
Local law company G.E.D. Clyne filed the court papers at Old Fort on September 15, 2023, at exactly 3:13 p.m., giving them the case number GDAhmt2023/0144. That was more than a month ago.
The publication says that Mrs. Mitchell, who was born in Barbados, told the court that the marriage “has broken down irretrievably” and that it is now time for “this marriage to be dissolved.”
Female lawyer and attorney Kim George is Dr. Mitchell’s lawyer in the divorce case.
Marietta, who was born in Barbados, has told close friends and family that she knew the longtime political leader of the New National Party (NNP) had been in several extramarital relationships over the years.
