A magistrate court upheld a lawyer’s no-submission case and acquitted a man accused of death threats against Prime Minister Phillip Davis of bail breach.
Isaac Roberts, 22, faced 10 bail violation counts before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
The court heard that in February, Roberts called the Central Police Station and threatened to kill Prime Minister Davis if Coalition of Independents leader Lincoln Bain was not released from custody after being arrested outside Baha Mar during an immigration protest during a CARICOM heads of government meeting.
The prosecution claimed that Roberts failed to charge his monitoring device between February 23 and June 14 after being charged.
Roberts pled not guilty and stated he called Metro Security to report a gadget malfunction and a broken charging pod.
Even though Metro Security testified that Roberts called about the device, the cops blamed him. Company did not test device functionality or offer replacement.
Bjorn Ferguson, Roberts’ attorney, filed a no-case submission, stating the evidence against him was weak.
Magistrate McKinney upheld the no-case motion.
