- Jetty to serve Northern Eco-Tourism Belt – Troumaca Bay to get new jetty
The renovated Cumberland Jetty will play a significant role as a docking facility for maritime operators and tourists visiting the ecologically diverse North Leeward tourism zone.
After the completion of the jetty restoration project at Cumberland, which involved the utilisation of greenheart wood for the decking, a subsequent construction endeavour is planned for Troumaca Bay.
Plans for Troumaca Bay jetty are currently being discussed through a World Bank project.
In December 2022, Carlos James, the Member of Parliament representing the North Leeward constituency, made a statement regarding the Cumberland Jetty.
He highlighted that the jetty had been significantly affected by a series of natural disasters, leading to its damaged condition.
James advocated for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the jetty rather than resorting to temporary patchwork solutions.
Cumberland Bay is widely recognised as a favoured mooring for yachting activities, situated along the northwestern coastline of the island.
