- St Kitts & Nevis Police Commissioner declares war on violence
Police Commissioner James Sutton has issued a strong warning against violence and criminality in St. Kitts and Nevis, underlining that such behaviour will not be allowed.
He opposed the use of violence as a means of resolving problems in a statement, calling such actions illogical and destructive.
“How can the slaughter of another human being be a solution to simple disagreements and contention if the solution to a broken arm or leg is not automatic amputation of the limb?” “As the young say nowadays, ‘the maths is not’mathing,'” said the commissioner.
“Enough already!” We are resolved to maintain law and order in St Kitts and Nevis as the Federation’s premier law enforcement agency. We will not gamble with our country’s safety and security, nor will we allow a few devilishly selfish and heartless individuals to reduce society’s existence to survival mode. It will not occur! The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is a republic. More is better than less in a democracy. We, the Police, and we, the people, are more than you. You cannot win, and WE will see that you do not.”
As the country recovers from a double homicide that brings the total number of murders to 28, Sutton said police have initiated a security strategy for Christmas and Carnival to keep communities safe.
The police presence on St Kitts and Nevis will be increased.
“We anticipate that such a change will not be aesthetically pleasing or entirely comfortable for some people.” The image of our youth lying lifeless in the streets, on the other hand, is neither appealing nor appeasing to law-abiding citizens. Before victimising society, these criminals contemplate nothing but their dumb vendettas and selfish desires. “The RSCNPF will carry out its mandate to the people without fear or favour, as we are obligated to do,” Sutton stated.
Anyone with knowledge on a crime is encouraged to contact the police.
