- SVG Beekeepers participate in St. Lucia Annual Hewanorra National Honey Show
St. Lucia hosted the 3rd Annual Hewanorra National Honey Show on the 8th and 10th of December 2023.
SVG had five (5) beekeepers register exhibits for judging in the various classes during the event. Ms. Beverly Reddock, Mr. Harvey Farrell, Mrs. Sabrina Murphy-Bascombe, Mr. Criscoor Sprott, and Mr. Cuthbert Lee were the beekeepers.
Mr. Cuthbert Lee was the winner of the “Chunk Honey Class.” A piece of honeycomb was inserted in a jar of honey in this session. Mr. Cuthbert Lee expressed his joy after finding that he had won first place.
Beverly Reddock, who finished second in the honey cake lass, also received an honourable mention. Beekeepers taking this lesson had to follow a recipe that used honey as one of the key ingredients.
This annual gathering has recently expanded to include the OECS member countries.
Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Montserrat, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, and the British Virgin Islands were among the countries represented.
