- St Vincent Agriculture sector plan for 2024-2029 currently being developed
Tuesday, December 5th to Wednesday, December 6th, 2023: The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry, and Labour is working on a new Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries strategy for the years 2024-2029.
This plan will seek to emphasise the critical tasks that must be carried out in order to alter the sectors throughout time. IICA hired Dr. Govind Seepersad, an agricultural economist, UWI lecturer, and consultant, to conduct detailed studies of each sector and give findings and recommendations.
The Ministry of Agriculture, with assistance from the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), hosted validation sessions for the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Sector Development Plan on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, and Wednesday, December 6, 2023. These validation meetings presented insights on the three (3) sectors’ current position as well as advised courses of action to further their growth throughout the intended term.
On both days, various stakeholders from each sector were given the opportunity to share their viewpoints. This technique was adopted to allow individuals to provide further feedback on the proposed plan, with the goal of ensuring that the final product is acceptable to the vast majority of clients.
Day 1 (Tuesday, December 5, 2023): Agricultural Sector Review and Proposed Priorities for 2024-2029.
