- Massy sends outspoken executive on leave
Massy Holdings Ltd. sources told Guardian Media yesterday night that the board has placed Angelique Parisot-Potter, executive vice president of Business Integrity, on administrative leave until January 12.
Sources stated she was forced on leave for her behaviour at the group’s 100th annual general meeting at the Hilton Trinidad on Monday.
Parisot-Potter, a Massy shareholder and group general counsel, told the meeting that she felt compelled to address governance and fiduciary issues raised in a 13-page document, including audio evidence, shared with CEO and president Gervase Warner.
In a written declaration read at the AGM, Parisot-Potter said, “Among other matters, one alarming issue is the so-called executive leadership programme, Delphi, which has been present in our organisation for over a decade.
“This programme requires frequent travel to Fort Myers, Florida, and weekly commitments for over a year at a cost of tens of thousands of US dollars per participant. Last year, over 11 participants participated.
Their weird practices include teaching Massy employees to contact with the dead and self-healing with ‘white light energy’.”
She called Massy’s Delphi involvement “a matter of grave concern to shareholders because the couple leading this programme appear to exert disproportionate influence over our executive team.”
She also addressed the Massy AGM that during a foreign exchange crisis, “Massy cannot be spending scarce resources on highly dubious activities, and contracts awarded cannot be pushed through without prudent due process.” This is a governance concern and a clear disrespect for shareholder interests.”
Several hours after the annual meeting, a Guardian Media journalist questioned Warner if Parisot-Potter’s career was in threat on Monday afternoon.
“Not because of what she said at the AGM,” he stated in the interview after Massy’s Hilton luncheon.
Asked if Parisot-Potter’s 13-page complaint letter to him implies she’s not aligned with Massy executive management, Warner stated, “That’s an interpretation that I cannot expand upon because that would be for her to speak to.”
The Massy CEO did not reject Parisot-Potter’s AGM assertions in a Monday Guardian Media interview. Instead, he linked Massy’s success to Delphi Sphere Consultants’ training of the group’s executive management and board directors.
However, Massy’s board released a statement on Tuesday night condemning Parisot-Potter’s AGM behaviour. The Massy board called her comments “patently untrue and scandalous.”
The board stated it takes all claims seriously and started an independent investigation into Parisot-Potter’s.
The board is concerned that Ms. Parisot-Potter used the company’s 100th AGM to publicly disclose a confidential matter. According to the board’s Tuesday press statement, Ms. Parisot-Potter’s AGM behaviour violated her obligations as general counsel, and the board will follow due process to resolve this issue responsibly but decisively.
Massy insiders claimed yesterday’s emailed communication to Parisot-Potter indicated that the board had decided to discipline her for her AGM behaviour.
