- Mudflows disrupts Perseverance water treatment facility
- Water truck deliveries to several northern villages, St Vincent
Residents across several northern villages of St Vincent who have been affected by the water supply disruption are angry by the uneven distribution of this vital, life-sustaining commodity.
Due to significant silt entering the Perseverance water system, which supplies pipe-borne water to Dickson, Spring Village, Langley Park, Chapmans, Rabacca, Orange Hill, and Tourama, the CWSA said it is trucking water to many settlements around the foothills of La Soufriere.
Several residents resorted to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the water delivery and possible health risk.
Georgetown resident Ron Clarke, in a Facebook posting, said,
“I am calling out some of the drivers who are delivering water on behalf of CWSA to the affected areas of Georgetown, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines. It appears that some persons who are considered ‘NOTABLE and employees of CWSA are given priority as it relates to the delivery of water. I just witnessed a water truck come and supply one person (a CWSA worker), then drive past the neighbours next door who were there waiting with their containers to be filled. Why overlook others while some get special treatment”?
The CWSA stated in an update on Wednesday that the input to the Perseverance water treatment facility remained closed due to the recurrence of unacceptably high levels of silt in the entering water.
Water truck deliveries will resume in those communities until pipe-borne water service is restored.
CWSA has thanked their customers for their patience and understanding as they continue to monitor the situation and work tirelessly to restore the entire system.
