- Beloved Resident Maurice Murphy Killed in Motor Vehicle Accident
The police at the Chateaubelair Police Station have opened an investigation into a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of Maurice Murphy, a 57-year-old resident of Redemption Sharpes, and injuries to two (2) passengers – Kenroy James, 43 years and Lesroy Irish, 22 years of the same address. James sustained injuries to his right hip and mouth while Irish suffered a fractured left wrist.
According to preliminary reports, on Friday January 26, 2024, about 11:40 a.m., Murphy was driving motor vehicle P-6486, a Silver Honda Civic Car with James and Irish as passengers. They were heading to Richmond on a fishing expedition. While driving on the Troumaca Public Road about 11:40 a.m., Murphy reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a retaining wall.
As a result of the impact, the driver sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by a medical practitioner. The motor vehicle was damaged extensively. The police and the emergency services responded to the accident and assisted the injured passengers. They were transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) in an ambulance for medical treatment.
Irish was treated and discharged on Friday January 26, 2024. James is still a patient at the Male Surgical Ward in stable condition.
The accident scene was processed, witnesses were interviewed, and the relevant measurements were taken.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on the deceased to ascertain the cause of death.
