- Wanted man shot by police after attempting to disarm officer
A 38-year-old man was shot by police in the Carmichael Road area on Saturday evening after allegedly disarming an officer of his service weapon.
Police from the Southwestern Division responded to a shop on Carmichael Road at 5:30 p.m., based on intelligence about a subject wanted for multiple fraud cases.
The suspect, a lone occupant of a white Honda Civic, exited the parking lot at great speed when the officers entered the commercial location. After a brief pursuit, the suspect abandoned the vehicle on Adderley Terrace off Faith Avenue and attempted to flee on foot.
After being shot in the right leg while trying to disarm an officer, officers tracked and arrested the suspect at the back of a house. Suspect was hospitalised and detained in stable condition. Investigations continue.
