- NatureFresh Adventure: Pioneering Rural Tourism in St. Vincent and the Grenadines
A certified tourism technician, together with an experienced former Royal Caribbean Cruise Line employee, are pioneering the concept of “rural tourism” in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Their venture, NatureFresh Adventure, aims to redefine the visitor experience on this Caribbean archipelago.
While the tourism landscape in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has traditionally centred on the Grenadines, with agriculture as the mainstay on the mainland, the dynamic is shifting. “The opening of the international airport on the mainland, along with the establishment of renowned resorts like Sandals, Holiday Inn, and Marriott, plus local hotel expansions, signals a pivotal time to embrace rural tourism.
At the heart of NatureFresh Adventure’s offerings are community-based tours, which include immersive culinary experiences led by local chefs. These tours not only entertain but also impart valuable local cooking skills to guests. Additionally, NatureFresh Adventure will feature hikes to breathtaking waterfalls, nature trails, gardens, and mountain ridges, showcasing the island’s natural beauty.
In the coming weeks, the company plans to engage with church leaders to integrate cultural and religious tours, tapping into a growing segment of the tourism market. “Our ‘Tour of Four Tunnels’ will uniquely blend geographical insights with a historical perspective on colonial impacts on transportation and rural settlement, offering a deeply enriching experience for visitors. This tour will explore tunnels in Park Hill, Three Rivers, Byrea, and Black Point, each with its own story.
The business will also have a heavy concentration on conservation in our green and blue eco-systems. A turtle-watching boat is currently being sourced to engage visitors in the turtle conservation practices in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Further, before year-end, a national tree planting exercise is expected to begin.
By January 2026, NatureFresh Adventure aims to provide twenty-five bed-and-breakfast opportunities in rural communities, offering guests an authentic Vincentian experience. This initiative is not just about accommodation; it’s about immersing visitors in the local culture and lifestyle, truly reflecting the spirit of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
