The Opposition New Democratic Party is calling on the Ralph Gonsalves administration to have audits done for two state entities.
Friday who is Leader of the Opposition at a press conference held on Wednesday morning said as a matter of urgency; the government must conduct an audit into the operations of the Petro Caribe Program supervised by the Director of Audits.
The Opposition is also calling on the government to have an audit done on the activities of the IADC, the entity which was responsible for constructing the Argyle International Airport, which also must be supervised by the director of audits.
Dr. Friday said they would continue to call on the Director of Audits to follow up on these matters under the context of her duties under the law.
Friday on Wednesday morning stated that the responses he had obtained from PM Gonsalves concerning issues he asked him to addresses surrounding the use of public funds, had done nothing to calm citizens fear.
“ In fact, the opposite has taken place, the contradictory stories, the excuses, the evasions, the hurried filing of ten-year-old accounts of Petro Caribe companies at CIPO, (Commercial Intellectual Property Office).
“ All of these things convey a sense of the abnormal, a sense of scandal; these taken together raised questions as to whether there is a cover-up in progress.”
Friday asked if someone was covering up the truth and further ask if there is a widening scandal here in St Vincent.
