- St Vincent To hand over Pro Tempore of CELAC to Honduras on March 1
All schools (primary and postsecondary) will be closed on Thursday, February 29, and Friday, March 1, 2024.
The closure is to accommodate the Summit for the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), hosted by St. Vincent and the Grenadines on March 1 at Sandals Beaches Resort in Buccament Bay.
In a release, the ministry of education said heads of educational institutions are asked to ensure that students are assigned work to account for the loss of instructional time.
António Guterres, the Secretary General (Chief) of the United Nations, will be present at the one-day CELAC Summit along with approximately 33 heads of state and governments.
Additional diplomats are anticipated to arrive from the United States, Europe, India, Africa, and the ASEAN nations (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).
CELAC comprises 33 nations and encompasses a population of around 650 million individuals.
