The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has expanded its Walkabouts and Town Hall Meetings in the communities of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). The main goals of the activities include but are not limited to:
Build a closer working relationship between the police and the public.
Engage the public on matters relating to Crime Prevention, Safety and Security, Public Order, and the National Firearms Amnesty.
Solicit recommendations about ways in which the police and the public can work together to curb incidents of crime and create safer communities.
In addition, the RSVGPF will sensitize residents about the National Firearms Amnesty which commenced on 01st March 2024 and will conclude on 31st May 2024. The objective of the amnesty is to enhance and improve community safety and security by reducing the ongoing threat of illegally held firearms and ammunition in the state and, reducing the likelihood of such firearms falling into the hands of criminals as a result of break-ins, theft, or accidental loss.
The Amnesty seeks to achieve this objective by giving persons the opportunity to surrender illegal firearms in their possession to the RSVGPF and other authorized agents – including, Ministers of Religion, Justices of the Peace, Attorneys -at- Law, Members of the House of Assembly, and the holder of a Firearm Dealers Licence without being arrested, charged or prosecuted. The Amnesty also extends to replica or imitation firearms, ammunition, and any parts of firearms.
To this end, the RSVFPF and its partners will continue its series of Walkabouts and Town Hall Meetings as listed in the table below:-
