Although just one woman in St Vincent has publicly acknowledged her health difficulties resulting from the COVID-19 vaccine and have since died, a collective of concerned individuals in Barbados is pursuing financial restitution for what they claim are the unfavourable consequences of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The St Vincent Times has interviewed several individuals in SVG who have linked their present health problems to the COVID vaccine. However, these individuals are reluctant to make their concerns public due to their apprehension of facing negative consequences from health authorities and the government.
According to Advocate Marcia Weekes in Barbados, certain persons have reported experiencing serious consequences following vaccination.
Weekes, speaking at a news briefing on March 21 organised by the Unity Workers Union, stated that the Barbados government has made a commitment to provide compensation to individuals who were impacted. She anticipates that this commitment would be fulfilled.
The government of St. Vincent has not made a commitment to providing compensation to any individuals who have been affected.
In July 2021, the Ministry of Health reported that there were just two adverse responses among those who received the COVID-19 immunisation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Ministry of Health has not issued any updates regarding these instances.
During a July 2021 interview on WEFM, Simone Keizer Beache, the Chief Medical Officer of St. Vincent, did not provide specific details regarding the extent or nature of the reaction. Nevertheless, she stated that there were no instances of blood clots or fatalities resulting from the immunisations delivered within the country.
Back in Barbados, Weekes said many citizens had questions about the vaccines.
“Many of us had questions about those vaccines. There was a lot of coercion, either by the government or sometimes by our employers. Some people felt forced to take the vaccines because they were worried about their jobs. People, including their medical practitioners and doctors, encouraged them to take the vaccines. And the truth is that as a result of what has happened—this coercion, the forcing, and, you know, the threats, etc.—there are quite a number of people in our society who are injured.”
During the press briefing in Barbados, Judith-Ann Clarke, one of the individuals asserting to have been impacted, shared her account.
“The doctor told me what I’m experiencing is a vaccine-related allergic reaction that is affecting my blood vessels. There is spike protein deposited in the walls of my blood vessels, and the body is attacking the vessels. I’m on a course of steroids, which will shut down the allergic reaction and repair the blood vessels. He said this could happen again in the future. He said the blood clots could develop over time wherever the spike proteins settle in the body,” Clarke said.
Pfizer has been chided by a UK watchdog for “bringing discredit” upon the pharmaceutical industry and promoting an “unlicensed” COVID vaccine in social media posts during the height of the pandemic.
The company’s actions, which breached the regulatory code five times, included making a “misleading” claim about the COVID vaccine that did not “reflect the available evidence regarding possible adverse reactions.”.
However, the complainant alleged that it turned out that such misbehaviour was even more “widespread than they had thought” and that it “extended right to the top of their UK operation and was apparently continuing to this very day”.
A Pfizer UK spokesman said that the company “fully recognises and accepts the issues highlighted by this PMCPA ruling”, adding that it is “deeply sorry”.
In a Facebook post on Monday, 8th, SVG Health stated that lifetime vaccines significantly lower the risk of contracting diseases such as hepatitis, rotavirus, measles, and COVID-19. Vincentians are being encouraged to visit their nearest health centre to find out how they can stay up-to-date on their lifetime vaccines, the post stated.
In St. Vincent, over 500 public employees, including 200 teachers, were fired because they did not receive the COVID-19 vaccine or failed to register their immunisation status on November 19, 2021, as required.
