Zenith and Franklyn Ollivierre, along with their three (3) children, are now counting their losses and seeking urgent help after a fire destroyed their dwelling house at Derrick Hill, Paget Farm, Bequia, on Tuesday, April 18.
Zenith told the St. Vincent Times she was in Kingstown on Tuesday morning when she received word that their 3-bedroom home, which was recently constructed, was engulfed in flames.
“Lots of people called, texted, and sent videos while I was in Kingstown. It was about 10.50 a.m.; I just broke down. No one was at home when the fire occurred.”
Zenith told the publication that she was not certain what caused the fire; “nothing was left on, no electrical appliances,” she said. Police said on Thursday that they are currently investigating the cause of the fire and will provide more details as they become available.
“The inside of the house is partitioned with board, so the fire spread quickly. We lost everything, including the children’s belongings; all the appliances were brand new. We are seeking help from the public at this time.”
“Dr. Friday has brought food supplies for us; other people have given us some clothing; and Carlos Williams has told us to look for somewhere to rent and it will be taken care of.”.
Zenith said the children and Franklyn are currently with her at her mother’s house while they take on the arduous tasks of moving forward and starting over.
The children are 21, 17, and 4 years old. Zenith told the St. Vincent Times that individuals can urgently provide assistance by calling 534-1047.
