St. Vincent and the Grenadines is pleased to Co-chair the Commonwealth Ministerial Meeting on Small States for the period 2022 – 2024.
One of the key actionable outcomes of the Commonwealth Ministerial Meeting on Small States Meeting is the Joint United Nations Commonwealth Advocacy Strategy which is to be implemented by Advocacy Champions supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Sherpa Group of Officials.
The Sherpa Group of Officials are technical officers working in the various thematic areas of advocacy in the respective countries of the Advocacy Champions.
On 17 April, 2024 in the margins of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology and Advocacy Champion for St. Vincent and the Grenadines the Honourable Camillo Gonsalves co-chaired the Second Meeting of the Small States Advocacy Champions.
The Advocacy Champions discussed one of the three areas of advocacy namely “Debt Vulnerability” and looked at proposed solutions in addressing the Debt Vulnerabilities of Small States.
