- Flea infestation persist despite eradication efforts
It is anticipated that students attending the Girls’ High School (GHS) and the Thomas Saunders Secondary School (TSSS) will resume their classes on Friday. This is in response to a flea infestation that occurred at both institutions, which resulted in the closure of classrooms for a period of two days.
A flea infestation occurs from “time to time,” according to the Minister of Education, Curtis King, who addressed the topic on the radio on April 24. He said that the children from both institutions were away from face-to-face interactions.
King stated that a large number of dogs frequented the area since it was a place where people ate. Despite the fact that there were pleas addressed to owners of dogs in the region to either tether their animals or keep them inside their borders, there was still the problem of stray dogs.
“The grounds of the schools have been treated, and they have established a number of measures, including the construction of a fence, in order to reduce the number of stray dogs that are present. There are times when difficulties continue to exist despite your best efforts”.
King indicated that you are now required to look for alternative options.
King stated that the decision to close both schools early on Tuesday afternoon was made by the Ministry of Education. They also made arrangements for the Public Health Department to visit both schools, which would have been impossible given the chemicals, since face-to-face education on both sites.
