- KCCU NATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL 2024
The Department of Culture launched the KCCU National Dance Festival earlier today (Wednesday July 31) at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown. The event was held under the theme “Dancepiration.”
Cultural Officer, Maxine Browne said the Dance Festival is an important component of the cultural calendar and the department holds the Arts in high esteem as the Arts provide participants with opportunities to showcase talent as well as build character.
Dance Development Officer, Claydonna Peters stated the competition will span four weekends over the months of September and October. The Dance competition program will comprise five categories including Traditional, Relative Folk, Modern, Social and Hip-Hop. The Preliminary rounds will be on the 14th, 21st and 28th of September and the Finals will be held on October 12th.
KCCU’s Marketing Officer, Ruth Stowe said the company is delighted to be associated with the programme and will continue to show unwavering support for the festival.
The Kingstown Co-operation Credit Union has been sponsoring the event since 1992.
