Philanthropist and Honorary Consul Designate to Oman Deron Grant, has made his contribution to the education of a Byrea youth.
Grant reached out to 15-year-old Antonio Caine, with a gift of $500.00 per term or $ 1500.00 per school year.
Caine is currently a student at the George Stephens Secondary School in Colonarie, and will enter form five for the new school term.
Grant Connell who handed over the cheque on behalf of Deron Grant told News784 on Thursday that Caine had been a Grass Roots Tennis player since the age of seven.
“Antonio won the under twelve championship in Antigua some years ago”.
Connell told News784 that the club had made a similar donation to Caine in the past, and its good to see even without a stable club home Deron is still assisting.
“It shows the club is still around; two courts do not define us”, Connell said.
Grant noted that with Deron’s elevation to Honorary Consul, hopefully, one day Antonio Caine may be asked to join him in Oman.
News784 cameras caught up with Caine at the Grand View Tennis court on Thursday afternoon where the hand over was made.
