Stephen O’Malley, UNDP’s Resident Representative, expressed his delight at the ongoing collaboration to facilitate climate change discussion and advocacy. “Climate change is a concern for UNDP at the global level and, certainly, here in the Caribbean.
It’s explicitly identified among our Sustainable Development Goals and, partnership is identified as a goal as well. So we’re very happy to be connecting with our development partners and, at the same time, facilitating youth dialogue and knowledge sharing.”
The 2017 Youth Climate Change Conference will include the participation of youth from 8 Caribbean countries and Japan. Participating Caribbean countries include: Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname. The event is being co-hosted by the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Japan-Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (J-CCCP) Project and the USAID-funded Jamaica Rural Economy and Ecosystems Adapting to Climate Change II (Ja REEACH II) Project in October 2017 in Kingston, Jamaica.
