Jessie Lingard, a Vincentian by descent who plays for the English national team, scored the third goal for England, in their 6-1 victory over Panama in the FIFA world cup 2018.
Lingard stole his own piece of the glory when he went through defenders on the edge of the box to drive a strike into the top right corner and scored.
Lingard, is Vincentian by descent, through his grandparents Isolyn and Cyril George who hails from the village of Stubbs, on the Southeastern coast of St. Vincent.
Their son Roy George who was born in England is the father of Jessie.
Jessie also plays as an attacking midfielder or as a winger for Premier League club Manchester United.
The size of Panama’s defeat has left some hopeful that it could mean England could go on to win the tournament for the first time since 1966, with others remaining cautious.
