VINLEC held a ceremony on the 25th Oct. 2018 for the reopening of its second Hydro Generating Station at the Richmond Power Plant.
Both South Rivers and Richmond were refurbished at a cost of $20m EC with $7.5m EC being spent at the Richmond site.
Both Plants are now online and monitored and controlled remotely through a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system.
The South Rivers Plant is monitored and controlled by The Cane Hall Plant and the Richmond Plant is monitored and controlled by the Cumberland Plant.
