Tourism Service providers in SVG are gearing up for what is being described as a another “Bumper Cruise Season”, 2018-2019.
The first ship to dock on November 1st would be Azura with some 3096 passengers along with a crew of 1200.
Azura which belongs to the P & O cruises will dock in port Kingstown around 7am.
Minister of Tourism Ces Mckie said Arrivals for the 2018 by yacht is up 20 percent, while cruise visitors data shows an 83.3 percent, these figures are up 46 percent over the same period in 2017.
In actual figures this means 77,525 new persons came to SVG between January – August 2018.
Arrivals for January – August 2017, was 170, 315 while January -August 2018 showed 247,840 persons.
Minister Mckie said these figures are verified by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.
The minister noted that stay over visitors are up 5 percent and is included the numbers for 2018.
He said domestic tourism were not captured in the figures.
