Police arrested and charged Jamerson Black of Calder with a series of Traffic Offences including of Reckless Driving and causing actual bodily harm to a Police Officer and a Female Pedestrian.
According to investigations, about 3:23pm on 8th November 2018, Black who was the driver of motor vehicle PT 67 was driving along Grenville Street in the vicinity of the Kingstown Vegetable Market on the southern lane (going towards Coreas City Store.).
The accused was spotted by a Traffic Officer who signalled him to pull aside in the vicinity of Flow.
Black complied with the officer’s request and pulled over M/V PT 67, but as the Officer walked towards the vehicle, Black sped off.
A Police motorcyclist, who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident, gave chase and caught up with M/V PT 67 in the area of Income Tax. The officer instructed Black to drive to the Central Police Station.
Black ignored the instructions of the officer, and sped off in the direction of the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines, hitting the Officer and his motor cycle in the process.
Black also allegedly struck a female pedestrian who was attempting to cross the street at the crossing in the vicinity of Richmond Hill.
The Police eventually stopped vehicle. Black was apprehended and charged for a series of traffic and criminal offences.
Black is expected to appear before the Kingstown Magistrate Court to answer these charges.
