Lawyer Kay Bacchus Baptiste entered 2019 in another capacity other than serving as an opposition senator.
Baptiste was ordained as a minister of religion on 30th December 2018.
She was ordained as a minister of the gospel to serve in the state of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
According to the ordination certificate the induction took place at the Chebar Evangelical Church under the guidance of Rev Lemmew Samuel.
Is it not clear if Baptiste would resign from her parliamentary portfolio as senator since it is in conflict with the Representation Of The People’s Act.
Under the Heading (Disqualification For Representatives and Senators ) 26 (1) B, states:
No person shall be qualified to be elected or appointed as a representative or senator if he/she is a minister of religion.
