The Cuban Ambassador Vilma Reyes Valdespino received Mr. Bernard Morgan, President of the Society of the Red Cross of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Garnet Jeffers, local volunteer of that Entity.
The officials expressed their admiration for the experience of Cuba in the prevention and management of the dissimilar emergency situations to which the Caribbean island is confronted, as well as the constancy with which the Cuban civil Defense, the Institute of Hydraulic Resources, the CITMA, the Institute of Meteorology and other organizations, share their knowledge with the sisters nations of the Caribbean.
Mr. Morgan made a brief summary of the central and local structures through which the Vincentian Red Cross Society develops its work throughout the country, and explained how the organization interacts with numerous Vincentian Ministries and organizations, within the framework of their activity.
The officials expressed their interest in expanding their contacts and exchanges with the related Cuban organizations, as well as their willingness to attend meetings, conferences and trainings convened by Cuban organizations in the field of the Assistance and the protection of the population facing different natural disasters.
The Cuban ambassador, for her part, referred to the permanent work of the organizations of the Greater of the Antilles in the development and improvement of the methods of prevention, defense, early warning and emergency management, including the preparedness facing the newest challenges, provoked by the new climatic realities, as well as the experience of Cuba in the work of recovery.
