On Saturday 30th March 2019, as part of its worship service, the Seventh-day Adventist church at Owia under the theme “The Greatest Hero” honored six persons from the community who have each made a contribution to some aspect of community life.
The persons recognized were Connell Baptiste (Missing in Photo) for his involvement as a shopkeeper, Glenda Morris for her contribution as an educator, Joslyn Lavia better known “Tun -as ‘ back’ (Missing in Photo) for his fishing involvement, Kenron McCoy for his contribution as a gravedigger; Devons Child for his contribution as an educator and Sylvina Thomas (Missing in Photo) for her contribution as an educatior.
The ceremony was attended by many worshippers including visitors from the community who turned out in large numbers to witness this impressive ceremony and participate in the worship service.
The sermon was presented by guest speaker, Pastor Karlson Samuel, who spoke on the topic “ Feet of My Hero”.
This was the second consecutive year that the Seventh-day Adventist church at Owia was organizing the event to recognized persons from the community for their significant contribution.
The ceremony ended with a fellowship luncheon which was attended by many of the worshippers.
