(SNO) – (PRESS RELEASE) — The Regional Police T20 Cricket Tournament got underway in Saint Lucia over the weekend and will run until April 22.
The participating countries are Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and the British Virgin Islands. Saint Lucia is the 2018 champion.
On a very damp outfield, the Vincy men, batting first in a reduced-over encounter, totalled 147 for 7 in the allotted 18 overs.
Trinidad and Tobago, in what may be considered their comfort zone, was shot down by the Vincentian bowlers for 99.
A half century from Captain Salvan Browne and a fifor from Andrew Thomas gave the St. Vincent police a 48-run victory.
He added: “St. Vincent allows another country to feel the trophy when they feel like and the time is up for Saint Lucia.”
The Vincentians vow to regain the championship after their six-year streak was broken twice by Barbados and Saint Lucia respectively.
The cricket tournament is designed to bring unity among regional police bodies.
