Deputy British High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Mr Craig Fulton speaking at a ceremony to launch the drilling process of the country’s first geothermal project at Bamboo Range on Monday said, the drilling process at the geothermal site is the first step to SVG’s sustainable path.
He said geothermal energy represents a unique opportunity for future growth and development, and that is why the UK government have granted funding to this exploratory stage which is very expensive.
He noted that the geothermal project is just one of the project taking place in SVG that the British government is supporting.
Others he said include the new port in Kingstown.
Fulton said he is very happy for the cooperation between the government of SVG and would be further underpinned by the opening of a High Commission Office on the island during the Summer.
Fulton noted that they will continue to work with countries that are interested in climate change and ways to mitigate against such.
