(By Javin Jacobs) – Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonslaves in an address to the nation on the approach of Tropical Storm Dorian said that SVG remains under Tropical Storm Warning.
Gonsalves said based on the information from St Vincent Meteorological service, SVG will feel the impacts from late Monday evening.
The center he said is expected to pass near SVG early Tuesday morning, and urge residents in low-lying areas to take all precautions.
Gonsalves said he was advised that up to 6 inches of rain is expected to fall during the passage of the storm. He said the new Coast Gaurd vessel will be removed for safety.
Seventy elderly persons are being moved to the Fairhall primary school from the Lewis Punnett home. All agencies are ready Gonsalves said.
The Ministry of Health is today moving medical supplies to all districts across the country, and heavy equipment is being moved to the North of the country as it is expected to feel the greatest impact.
Gonsalves said as of 4 pm today all businesses and non- essential services will be closed across SVG, gas stations and supermarkets will remain open until 6 pm.
All emergency shelters will be open by 7 pm.
