This country is expected to honor the contributions of three regional leaders when it opens the long-awaited Argyle International Airport.
This from Prime Minister Dr ralph Gonsalves as he spoke with the media at City Hall, Port-of-Spain following the funeral for Manning at Holy Trinity Cathedral on Saturday.
A tribute to former Prime Minister Patrick Manning will be unveiled when the new Argyle International Airport in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is opened.
Gonsalves, who was a close friend of Manning’s, said Manning was beloved by the SVG people, who named a village after him.
The name “Manning Village” was adopted after the former PM provided financial assistance to relocate residents of a small village that had been devastated by Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
“You will hear more about his contributions when I open the International Airport. Undoubtedly, there will be something special for him,” he said.
He said there would also be something special at the airport for former Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro and former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
The airport will be opened in either August or September, Gonsalves said.
All three countries have contributed immensely to the construction of the Argyle International Airport.
