Union Island begins to feel the effects of Storm Karen

The southern grenadine island of Union Island has already began to feel the effects of tropical storm Karen, the storm is expected to begin affecting SVG after midday.

Residents have reported strong winds and rough seas along with fallen trees in various villages.

Nearby Grenada is already experiencing high seas, gusty winds and heavy rains as the storm makes its way up the island chain.

The met office is expected to issue an advisory on the latest position some time after midday.
