Entertainers from Jamaica, Haiti, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Lucia, will headline the inaugural Creole Culture Fest which takes place October 18-20 at Miramar Amphitheatre in Florida.
The event is promoted by Madame Gougousse Inc. Performers include KES The Band, Konshens, Nessa Preppy, Nailah Blackman, Klass, Gabel, Roody Roodboy, Rara Lakay, Rylax, Nu-Look, DJ Stakz, DJ Pass and DJ Dr Esan.
“October is celebrated as International Creole Heritage Month and I am honoured to share the diversity in that rich culture through food, music and arts. We invite everyone to attend all three days to enjoy this great experience,” said Patrick Fabre, main organiser for Creole Culture Fest.
Nephtalie Hyacinthe, publicist for the event, noted that three days gives promoters enough time to showcase diverse aspects of Creole and Caribbean culture.
“It is important because the intention is to celebrate all the islands in the Caribbean and we wanted to make sure that all the islands are well-represented with the utmost best talents. At the end of the day, the goal is not just entertainment but also to grow the community,” she said.
Mayor of Miramar Wayne Messam, whose parents are Jamaican, will host the festival.
Creole culture is particularly strong in Caribbean countries with a French influence. These include Haiti, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
