The Venezuelan Public Ministry has charged 509 alleged violators of human rights.
The Venezuelan attorney general, Tarek William Saab, declared on Tuesday December 10 that, since the beginning of his administration, the Public Ministry (MP) has charged 509 alleged perpetrators of violating human rights in that South American country.
“770 have been charged for crimes such as homicide, torture, cruel treatment, inhuman or degrading treatment, illegitimate deprivation of liberty, home invasions, among others. Of that total, 131 convictions have been obtained against officials” he said and added that of the previous figure, about 393 are in prison. In addition, within the framework of Human Rights Day, he stressed that the Venezuelan State ensures the well-being of its citizens, although the efforts of some members of the international community to give false positives persist.
Venezuela asks to end capitalist model and climate crisis
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza extended on Tuesday December 10 a call to change the capitalist model to stop the climate emergency facing the planet, a situation that he described as an environmental catastrophe.
These statements were made by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister during his speech at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change 2019 (COP25) held in Madrid, Spain. “Our country calls on the international community to assume a development model of greater sustainability” said the representative of Venezuelan diplomacy.
Venezuela: New US sanctions confirm despair
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said the new sanctions announced by the United States Government (US) are “absurd” and “confirm their despair and chronic disorientation with respect to Venezuela.”
“Neither unilateral measures nor economic blockade will stop the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people,” said the head of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, on his Twitter account. This Monday, December 10, the US Department of Treasury published on its website new sanctions to individuals and companies from Venezuela, Serbia, Latvia and Cambodia. In total, 17 people and 29 companies from the four countries were sanctioned under the so-called Magnitsky Law.
President Nicolás Maduro swears militiamen for the Nation
The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, swore 3 million 300 thousand militia in defense of sovereignty, peace and stability amid constant threats by the States (USA) against the South American country.
“We have exceeded the goal; we have 3 million 300 thousand men and women organized and ready for the defense and peace of Venezuela … I congratulate the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the Venezuelan people” said the head of state.
President Maduro: Colombian migration to Venezuela increased in 2019
During 2019, Venezuela has registered an increase in the index of Colombian migrants, a figure that exceeds that recorded in 2018, the head of state and government, Nicolás Maduro Moros, informed during a working meeting with mayors of the country.
“This year more than 250,000 Colombians have entered Venezuela, a figure that exceeds last year where 180,000were registered” President Maduro said. He denied the figure referred to by the former Colombian foreign minister, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, who claims the existence of 4 million Venezuelans in Colombian territory.
