Two Female Vincentian Athletes are among those trending at the Rio 2016 Games currently taking place in Brazil.
They are Kineke Alexander who will compete in athletics and Izzy shne Joachim competing in swimming.
Izzy Shne Joachim is a Vincentian swimmer. She competed in the 50 m freestyle and 100 m freestyle, 50 m, 100 m and 200 m breaststroke, 50 m backstroke, 50 m butterfly and 100 m individual medley events at the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships. Joachim also competed in the 50 m and 100 m breaststroke events at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships.
Kineke is a Vincentian sprinter who competed in the 400m event at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the flag bearer for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the 2008 opening ceremony and the 2012 opening ceremony. She was also the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines flag bearer at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The games opened last Friday night as a salve, disguising the wounds for a few hours and letting Brazilians celebrate everything from the waves of immigrants still putting down stakes here to Alberto Santos-Dumont, the aristocratic bon vivant whom Brazilians credit with inventing the airplane.
