Venezuela requests financing from the IMF in fight against Covid-19

In a letter addressed to IMF Director General, Kristalina Georgieva, the Venezuelan president explains that these resources will contribute significantly to strengthening the detection and response systems for the coronavirus in Venezuela.
“At this crucial moment, and conscious of the aggressiveness and high level of contagion of this disease, we will continue to take swift and vigorous measures to stop its spread,” said the dignitary in the letter released by the Minister of the People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, through his Twitter account, @jaarreaza.
President Nicolás Maduro declares all Venezuela is in social quarantine for Covid-19
President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, declared on Monday that the entire national territory is in social quarantine due to the increase in confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, better known as Covid-19.
The president announced that the number of confirmed cases in the country had increased to 33, after registering another 16 infected people. In addition, he explained that of the total infected, 18 are women and 15 are men, of which 28 came from Europe and five from Cúcuta, Colombia.
Venezuela and Cuba strengthen actions to combat Coronavirus
Delegates from the Presidential Commission for the Prevention, Attention and Control of the coronavirus in Venezuela, held a meeting on Monday with Cuban specialists to strengthen strategies for the prevention and containment of the pandemic in the South American country.
The commission sent by the Cuban nation is made up of two specialists in epidemiology and a microbiologist attached to the Pedro Kourí Tropical Institute, a distinguished place in carrying out epidemiological surveillance protocols, isolation and treatment of confirmed cases of coronavirus on the island.

President Maduro urges OPEC to work to stabilize the market
President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called on the members and non-members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to work together to stabilize the market, given the effects that the coronavirus has had on the world economy. .
