The Zero Hunger Trust Fund and the Enhams Clinic get a boost

Minister of Economic Planning and Parliamentary Representative for East St. George, the Hon. Camillo Gonsalves has received a cheque of $4000 which was donated to the Zero Hunger Trust Fund and a number of equipment and medical supplies valued at over $6,000, donated to the Enhams Clinic.
The donation was made possible by a Vincentian living in the Diaspora. Deron Grant, a well-known former Tennis Player and Philanthropist has coordinated over $10,000 in donations to the Zero Hunger Trust Fund and the Enhams Clinic.
The  presentation  towards the Zero Hunger Trust Fund – was a combined donation from Deron Grant and a circle of international friends includes, Mr. Mark Halstead of USA, Mr. & Mrs. Mario & Vanja Mustapic of Croatia, Ms. Amanda Pinto of Brazil and Mrs. Sima Najafi-Grant of Iran.
The Hon. Camillo Gonsalves received the cheque and medical supplies on Tuesday August 24 from Grant’s Mentor the Hon. Rene Baptiste at a Handing over Ceremony held at the Enhams Clinic.

In his remarks at the Handing over Ceremony, the Hon Camillo Gonsalves said that he is happy to accept these important gifts that will make the patients more comfortable and make the delivery of health services more efficient and more comprehensive. Gonsalves noted that as far away as Deron Grant is, he remains deeply connected and deeply rooted to his country, his family, his community and to the Enhams Clinic that gave him life in many ways.
Gonsalves said the $6,000 worth of medical supplies and equipment donated by Grant to the Enhams Clinic represents a discount as he has negotiated with the person whom he bought them from, “This wasn’t simply him writing a cheque, this was him being actively involved in every aspect of the donation that he has made,” the Area Representative said. He added that Grant is committed towards making a meaningful contribution to the clinic and his community.
The Area Representative noted that Grant has spoken to him about some repairs to be done at the clinic and the issue of the resident nurse and he wants to assure him that all these things are being followed up on actively  and the rehabilitative work to the building have been committed to and will take place.
“His love for country is so contagious that he manages to get his friends to make a donation towards the Zero Hunger Trust Fund. He is a walking, talking, advertisement and ambassador for St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” Gonsalves said. “He is doing a wonderful work, he has travelled a great distance but he has not forgotten his roots and he is making an important contribution. I think it is a template for other fortunate sons and daughters who have travelled far afield.” Gonsalves said.
Deron Grant, who is now the Head of Tennis Operations at the largest Sporting and Recreational Facility in the Sultanate of Oman, was born at the Enhams Clinic.
