Continuing heavy rainfall in the interior of the island has resulted in a series of landslides above the CWSA Majorca intake.
The CWSA says this has severely affected the quality of water coming into the system with higher than normal silt loads and muddy water.
In order to improve the quality of water supplied from this system, the CWSA will have to periodically interrupt the supply to several areas fed from the Majorca until the situation is satisfactorily resolved.
The utility company in a release says the water supply will be interrupted in a number of communities, they include:
RILEY, KELBOURNEY ,GOMEA, DAUPHINE, ASHBURTON, BELAIR, FAIRBAN BELMONT ,FAIRHALL, FOUNTAIN, WHIM, QUEENS DRIVE, CANE HALL, DORSETSHIRE HILL, MILLERS GATE, UPPER SION HILL,AND MURRAY’S VILLAGE
The CWSA in its release is reminding the PUBLIC that we are now in the middle of the hurricane season where the likelihood of outages resulting from landslides increases significantly.
