Over 90 thousand people are registered to vote in the general election today with both the incumbent Unity Labour Party (ULP) and the main opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) confident of victory.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves who is seeking an unprecedented fifth consecutive term in office told party supporters on Tuesday night that he is “very confident” that the party would increase seats on the mainland.
Dr Friday who is seeking to create history by winning his first election as the new opposition leader is also confident of victory, the party has shown a more aggressive campaign in this election.
The elections are being monitored by a team from CARICOM. The ULP currently holds 8 of the 15 parliamentary seats while the NDP holds 7.
