The role of Rangers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is very diverse. It can include visitor management and communication; biodiversity conservation and cultural heritage protection; fire management and emergency response; surveillance and law enforcement; pest control and environmental monitoring; supervising of staff and implementation of project activities, among others.
Rangers and similar staff undertaking ranger duties can be found working at institutions such as Forestry Services, Fisheries Division, Public Health Department, Tobago Cays Marine Park and National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority among others.
The National Environmental Days Commemoration Committee (NEDCC), with representatives from several ministries and government agencies, is observing today, 31st July 2020 as World Ranger Day (WRD). World Ranger Day is an International Ranger Federation (IRF) initiative promoted together with its official charity arm, The Thin Green Foundation.
The NEDCC’s objective for World Ranger Day 2020, is to raise awareness of and celebrate the accomplishments and work done by Rangers in managing, protecting and conserving the natural and cultural heritage of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The NEDCC takes the opportunity to thank Rangers across our nation for the remarkable work they do on the ground to protect our natural and cultural heritage.
