Police are investigating an incident at Yambou in which a VINLEC utility pole was set on fire this morning.
At 7:23 this morning VINLEC received a call that the utility pole was on fire.
On investigation, remnants of a burnt tyre were found at the base of the pole.
A VINLEC official told media in St Vincent that they are convinced it was a deliberate attempt to destroy the pole, and cause interruption to the electricity supply.”
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the St Vincent Electricity Services Ltd (VINLEC) Thornley Myers says that he strongly doubts that the recent firebomb attack on the company’s headquarters annex recently had anything to do with an aggrieved customer.
