The authorities here have confirmed that a letter sent to magistrate Bertie Pompey regarding the health of fugitive Dave Ames came out of England and was signed by someone claiming to be a lawyer.
Information indicates that investigations are now being carried out to verify the contents of the letter, which states Ames is too sick and cannot now travel back to the country to face criminal charges.
Ames, a businessman from the U.K, skipped town after he was to appear in court to answer several criminal charges connected to his business at the Buccament Bay Resort.
He is also a Vincentian citizen and no notice was placed at the ports to stop him from leaving, with prime minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves stating he left the country legally.
Authorities here say they are not aware of Ames’ present location.
