(By Ernesto Cooke) – Radio broadcaster Donnie “Prince,” Collins says, funds that he collects from the sale of two of his most recent paintings will go towards the Zero Hunger Fund.
The Zero Hunger Trust Fund is an initiative by the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines which seeks to fulfil one of this country’s obligations outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals.
Collins said he was inspired by Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves’s actions when he, for the 4th time, contributed $9000.00 to the Zero Hunger Trust Fund.
“I too want to contribute, so I’ll put these two painting for a price of $1000.00 each and contribute the funds collected to the ZHTF”, Collins said in a Facebook post.
He says the paintings are valued at way more than the price quoted.
“I remember going to school without food in my belly and shoes on my feet. I’ll make an effort to contribute to this fund in this way periodically”, the broadcaster wrote.
By the end of this week, the Zero Hunger Trust Fund will deliver a basket of goods (or a cash voucher) to 349 students across 12 primary schools that benefit from its “Adopt a Classroom” programme.
